Knock National School in Laois unveiled their beautiful new mural at the school on Thursday 24 October, with artist Juliette Viode in attendance at the event.

Principal Mary Butler said that the school has been part of the Creative School programme with The Arts Council for the past two years.  During the programme, the primary school pupils took part in a workshop on animation with Oscar Nominated Animation Studio 'Cartoon Saloon' and they designed and painted the new mural for their school yard.

Commenting on what is depicted in the mural, Principal Butler said: "Knock N.S. is central to the community in Spink and the children included many important places to them within the community. This includes the local church and grotto of Our Lady, the Rag Tree, the ruins of the Ancient Church at Dysartgallen and the beautiful stream that flows by our school. Amongst all of these places, they included native wildlife."
