Portarlington Credit Union has urged its members to remain alert due to an increase of scams recently.
The credit union shared a warning on their social media, advising members to be cautious as there has been a rise in the number of fraudulent texts and phone calls to people in recent weeks.
They said that over the past few weeks, a member received a text message about a "new payee" which asked them to contact a Dublin phone number if they did not set it up.
The post mentioned another incident where a member received a similar text and then proceeded to share their information. The person was contacted by phone and asked to provide a security code.
The credit union has urged that these messages and phone calls are fraudulent.

They reminded people that they will never contact anyone asking to set up a new payee, send any links requesting to transfer funds, or ask for personal details, PIN, passwords or one-time security codes over text or phone.
Members have been warned not to click suspicious links, share personal or financial information, or engage with unexpected calls or texts.
Portarlington Credit Union said: "If you receive any communication like this, please ignore it and report it immediately. If you have any concerns, contact us directly using our official office number or call into our office, we will be happy to assist you.
"Your security is our priority."
