Stray American Pit Bull found at Portlaoise train station impounded

Dog found at Portlaoise train station sent to pound

A stray dog on the restricted breeds list that was found at Portlaoise train station this week has now been sent to Laois Dog Pound.

The chocolate brown bulldog is described as an 'American pit bull terrier / Bully M' by Laois Dog Pound Shelter.

He was noticed at the train station at 6am on Friday morning, January 20.

The dog was later collected from the train station by the dog shelter on Friday, January 20 and will be spending at least the weekend in the pound.

Irish law has categorised certain aggressive dog breeds as restricted breeds. Pet parents must follow several rules to own a restricted dog breed in Ireland. The restricted breeds list includes the American Pit Bull.

His owner will have to prove ownership. Otherwise the dog will be up for rehoming in a week's time.
