NEW: Netflix star to hold art exhibition in Laois

Known for his work on Paris and London Fashion Weeks, along with featuring as a finalist on Netflix's 'Glow Up', renowned makeup artist James Mac is bringing his exhibition "Makeup X Art" from London to Laois.

The exhibit is set to captivate art enthusiasts, and will be hosted at the Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise.

The exhibition promises a unique exploration of the intersection between makeup and art, unveiling twenty captivating looks that transcend conventional boundaries.

“In viewing these art works, you’re also gaining an insight into my own story, as a young boy with a love for art to finding a fully fledged career as an international creative director for Makeup Artistry," said James Mac.

“Makeup has been a unique outlet for dealing with my own, circumstances: through escapism, through healing, through creativity.

“The exhibition as a whole pays homage to my family, to my extended queer family, the LGBTQIA+ community and close friends whose belief and support have been my pillars; a foundation on which I continue to build," the artist finished.

Through this showcase, James Mac invites viewers to experience the enchanting and unconventional ways makeup serves as
a powerful means of connection. The makeup artist is originally from Abbeyleix.

The exhibition opens to the public on 29h June 2024, at Dunamaise Arts Centre. Portlaoise, Co. Laois. It is one of many events held by the Dunamaise Arts Centre in 2024, as they celebrate their 25th anniversary.

"We have been following his impressive international portfolio and busy career in recent years and are thrilled that he took up
our invitation to host the first Irish exhibition of his work here, following his great success at Morley Gallery, London.

"It is fitting that Dunamaise present this acclaimed artwork in James’ home county. We look forward to welcoming audiences and gallery visitors to admire the skill, artistry and beauty on display.

We’re also excited to host an exclusive Masterclass with James later in the season – keep in touch through our socials and newsletter for ticket sales details!" she finished.
