Local band Young Kaarree set to perform debut gig this weekend in Portlaoise

Local band Young Kaarree will be performing their debut gig this weekend at Kavanagh's pub in Portlaoise

The band performs original modern folk music and will be taking to the stage for the first time on Saturday night at 8pm.

Young Kaarree was created by Podge Carey from Killenard, and he is joined in the band by his brother Séamus Carey, Tod Doyle, Cillian Egan and 'The Wool'.

The band's passion for traditional Irish music combined with their love for some of the harder-hitting folk, rock and country sounds of Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Creedence Clearwater Revival has fed into the development of their own unique style of storytelling and musical craftsmanship.

The band recently released their track 'Johnny Boy' on Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube in August of this year. Their debut single is a raw and startling tale of trauma and addiction, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting journey for Young Kaarree in the Irish music scene.
Young Kaarree will be releasing their second single in December of this year and hopes to hit the Irish and international festival circuit in 2025.
Kavanagh's will be alive with music on Saturday night as other acts will be performing as well as Young Kaarree, including George Gardener, Alright Then and Eamon Dunne.
Tickets for the event are on sale now and are priced at only €13. You can grab your tickets for the event at www.kavanaghsportlaoise.com.
Make sure to pop into Kavanagh's on Saturday night for what is sure to be a great night of craic agus ceoil!
