Cllr Caroline Dwane Stanley has attended the latest sitting of Laois County Council's Portlaoise Municipal District via Zoom.
The Portlaoise councillor has been so far silent in the public controversy surrounding her husband Deputy Brian Stanley.
In the October sitting of Portlaoise's Municipal District, Cllr Dwane Stanley supported several motions from Fine Gael Cllrs Willie Aird and Barry Walsh, along with motions from Independent Cllr Tommy Mulligan.
Deputy Stanley resigned from Sinn Féin with immediate effect on Saturday October 12, having been a member of the party for over 40 years. The former Sinn Féin TD has recently been involved in a public back and forth volley of accusations with Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald, stemming from an alleged complaint made against Stanley from a party member.
Deputy Stanley, made a counter complaint, with the case currently under investigation with An Gardaí Síochána.
Following Deputy Stanley's sudden departure, along with Portarlington/Graiguecullen Cllr Aidan Mullin's resignation from the party on August 28, Cllr Dwane Stanley remains as the only Sinn Féin councillor in Laois.
There is currently much speculation surrounding the selection of the Sinn Féín candidate who will stand for Laois/Offaly in the next general election.
