New things are coming to The Dunamaise Arts Centre this season; a new programme of events, and a new Venue Director.
The arts centre has announced an upcoming change in directorship, with Venue Director Michelle de Forge announcing her Portlaoise departure this July.
“I feel so lucky to have had the privilege of working with this committed and talented staff team, to present such a wide range of inspirational artists and events, to an ever-growing audience from across the Laois community over the past thirteen years," Ms de Forge said.

"The myriad of challenges running an arts centre always faded into perspective when audiences engaged with artists and imaginations ignited here. It was a regular reminder of the importance of access to quality arts and culture for everyone in our community.
"I’m proud to have helped build the reputation of Dunamaise as a destination stage and gallery for Ireland's top artists and increased programming of local artists and community arts groups here annually.
"I’m truly grateful for the support of audiences, sponsors and funders and I encourage them to continue investing in Dunamaise for the benefit of all our community who come here to connect together and to be entertained.
"I want to express my sincere thanks to past and present board members, staff colleagues and numerous project partners over the years for their advocacy of Dunamaise, the Arts and the artists we serve. I wish the incoming CEO every success and know they are lucky to have such wonderful colleagues and creative collaborators here in Laois," she finished.
Mr Clive Davis, Chairperson of the Board of the Laois Arts Theatre Company, thanked Ms de Forge for her commitment and dedication.
“I would like to express our gratitude to Michelle for her unwavering commitment to the Arts in Laois over the past 13 years," he said.
"Michelle has ensured the Arts have a dedicated home in Laois and has inspired countless local artists to continue their creative pursuits. I know that many cherished memories have been forged in the space that Michelle diligently stewarded over the course of her tenure. Thank you so much Michelle. We wish you all the very best in the future," Mr Davis finished.
Recruitment for the next CEO will be announced widely in the coming days. See Dunamaise.ie and Dunamaise socials for details.
