A Laois leisure centre has announced its closure due to upcoming renovation works.
The pool in Portlaoise leisure centre is getting a new moveable floor mechanism, part of a multi-million continued investment in Portlaoise and Portarlington's public leisure centres.
Laois County Council as owner of the two buildings is taking out a loan of €1.7m to pay for more repairs, in addition to Sports Capital Grants.
Laois Leisure announced that the closure is for 'important enhancements'.

"We're excited to share that our swimming pool at Laois Leisure Portlaoise is receiving some important enhancements to keep it in top condition for you!" said Ms Pam Quirke, Group Operation Manager with Laois Leisure.
"To complete essential upgrades to our movable floor system, the pool will be temporarily unavailable from Wednesday, 19th November 2025 for 4 weeks.
"But don't worry, there's still plenty happening at Laois Leisure during this time! Our gym, fitness classes, meeting rooms, and Astro pitches will all remain open, so you can keep up your fitness routine and enjoy your favourite activities while we carry out this exciting improvement," Ms Quirke explained.
"And for those who'd like to continue swimming, Laois Leisure Portarlington will remain fully open and available for use by all our members and PAYG customers throughout this period.
"We truly appreciate your understanding and support as we invest in creating an even better swimming experience for you and your family. We can't wait to welcome you back to a refreshed pool," she finished.
In April, general manager Mr Sean Quirke gave an update to the Council on Portlaoise and Portarlington leisure centres.

"We invested over €300,000 in the gym in Portlaoise last year. Now it's the best gym in the county without any doubt," general manager Mr Sean Quirke said.
"That's put the energy back in, not only for customers but for staff. Having that ability to retain staff and attract new customers. For the first time gym membership in Portlaoise has out performed Portarlington. Our membership is up by 100 a month. That's all related to the nice shiny new clean gym," Mr Quirke he explained.
"The buildings are now into their 18th year. A lot of the plant had a five to ten year lifespan so it is a rolling battle of repairs until we get back up to speed," he finished.
