Appeal for volunteers for Portlaoise St Patrick's day parade

Laois County Council has published details of road closures in Portlaoise for St Patrick’s Day.

The closures are necessary for the St Patrick’s Day Parade, the Portlaoise Athletic Club 5 km run and associated events. 

The temporary closures will begin on Monday, March 16 when Lyster Square in the vicinity of the Bank of Ireland will close and remain closed to traffic until 7pm on St Patrick’s Day.

On Tuesday, March 17, between 7am and 7pm Portlaoise Main Street and Bridge Street will close from the N80 Stradbally Road junction to the N80 Market Square Roundabout.

A number of additional roads will then close from 12.30pm until 2.30pm.  

They include the N80 James Fintan Lalor Avenue Portlaoise, from the N80 Stradbally Road junction to the N80 Market Square Roundabout. The L-63102 Well Road from the junction of Main Street to the N80 Timahoe Road Roundabout. The R426 New Road from the N80 Timahoe Road Roundabout to the junction of the L-63105 at Kylekiproe.

Laois County Council said these temporary road closures are necessary to facilitate the Portlaoise AC 5km Run and the Portlaoise St. Patrick’s Day Parade and associated events.
