House prices in Laois have risen on average by €25,000 in the last twelve months, according to a new report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
The latest CSO Residential Property Price Index reveals that in May of this year the average property price in Laois was €260,000, up from €235,000 in May 2023.
The study looks at the average property prices by Eircode across the state and the Portlaoise Eircode area shows an average residential property price of €250,000, up from €230,000 in May of last year.
The average property price nationally rose to €335,000 in May 2024. The lowest average was recorded for €169,500 in Longford, while the highest was €626,000 in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
Commenting on the release, Niall Corkery, Statistician in the Prices Division, said: “Residential property prices rose by 8.2% in the 12 months to May 2024, up from 7.9% in the year to April 2024. In Dublin, residential property prices saw an increase of 8.6%, while property prices outside Dublin were 7.8% higher in May 2024 when compared with a year earlier."
