Laois County Council has promised to take over a Stradbally housing estate by summertime, after fresh urges by two councillors.

The estate in the Electric Picnic home town is Cill Beg Manor on the Carlow approach road.

Cllr Paschal McEvoy asked if there was "any word" at the March 31 monthly meeting of Laois County Council, after hearing a plethora of other taking in charge approvals in Portlaoise, Mountmellick and Portarlington.

"I proposed that it be taken in charge. I think we need a plebiscite. It's been going on the agenda for the last while. Cllr Vivienne Phelan had a recent motion too. There has been promise after promise but nothing has happened. I know there have been issues with the developer," he said.

Two years ago, Cllr McEvoy tabled a motion on Kyle Beg and was given a list of outstanding works at the estate, by Director of Services Angela McEvoy. They included plastering a boundary wall, providing As Built drawings and wayleaves where foul and storm sewers pass through private lands. The Council will use the Bond to complete works if the developer does not resolve same,” she said in February 2023.

Now she has given another promise to him.

"it should be before you before summer. I'll push it out before the summer," she said.
