Laois has seen the number of new homes completed jump by 46% in the first half of the year, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
There were 370 homes completed up to June 2025 in Laois which is up from 253 over the same period last year. Between April and June there were 230 home completions with 140 completions between January and March.
The Portlaoise Local Electoral Area had the highest number of home completions so far this year - 159, followed by the Borris-Mountmellick LEA (122) and Graiguecullen Portarlington LEA (107).

Nationally there were 9,214 new dwelling completions in April, May, and June.
This was an increase of 35% compared with the 6,824 completions in the second quarter of 2024. There were 3,053 apartment completions between April and June which was up 101% on the same quarter in 2024.
