Various private and public housing developments in Laois.
The delivery of new social housing across multiple Laois towns has taken a step forward as Laois County Council has published a tender seeking a design team to spearhead the development. The Council is looking for a team to deliver 14 social housing units and two serviced sites with a construction budget of €5.5 million.
The sites include Old Knockmay Road, Portlaoise where two new two bed single story units will be built. A further three new two bed single story units will be built at Bog Road, Ballyroan.
Three new housing units, a one bed and two new two beds, will be delivered at 15 Bracklone Street, Portarlington.
Two new three bedroom homes will be delivered at 50+51 Triogue Manor, Portlaoise and a further two three bed units and two new two bed homes will be built at 26+27 Triogue Manor, Portlaoise. Demolition work of existing structures will be required at all of the sites mentioned.

The design team will have to prepare a scheme layout for submission to the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage for approval for funding. The deadline for the application of tenders is January 26, 2026 and the contract will be awarded by February 27, 2026. The contract is expected to last just under five years and is published on the eTenders website.
