A substantial amount of land in two parcels in Laois and Kilkenny were leased when they came under the hammer at auction recently. Auctioneer Joe Coogan leased around 56 acres at Glebe Coolrain Portlaoise in two lots with no entitlements for ten years.

The deal was done at his auction room in Ballycomey House, Castlecomer Co Kilkenny. The land leasing involved 31 acres with short laneway access to a public road, in one block ideally suitable for grazing, hay/silage, Cattle crush and holding pen, water supply. Bidding opened at €420 per acre and concluded at €500 per acre per year with two active bidders involved for this lot. 

Also agreed was the leasing of 24 acres with road frontage, in one block ideally suitable for grazing, hay/silage. Cattle crush and holding pen, water supply.

Bidding opened at €300 per acre and concluded at €480 per acre per year with three active bidders for this lot. The land is situated approximately five miles from Mountrath and 10 miles from Roscrea.

On auction day 45 acres of top-quality agricultural land was leased at Danesfort Cross Danesfort, Waterford Road, Co Kilkenny presently in tillage with no entitlements for seven years.

Bidding opened at €320 per acre and concluded at €540 per acre per year. There were nine active bidders interested in the lands.

The lands are situated approximately 300 yards from Danesfort Cross and GAA grounds, 600 yards from the motorway, and four miles from Kilkenny City Ring Road.
