Laois GAA club lodges planning application for 180 seater grandstand

Permission sought by Rathdowney GAA club for major development
Rathdowney GAA club is going up in the world, literally, with a roofed spectator stand.
The club in the south east Laois town has lodged a planning application with Laois County Council this September for the major addition to their facilities.

“Rathdowney GAA club wish to apply for permission for the construction of a new roofed spectator stand to the north of the grounds,” the club states.
The stand would measure nearly 9 metres tall, and 29 metres long, covering 255 square metres.
It would seat a total of 180 viewers, including 11 seats in an accessible section.
The application was lodged in early September, with a decision due just before Halloween.
Rathdowney GAA who join forces with nearby Errill GAA in competitions, won the Laois Senior Hurling Championship in 2019. Rathdowney-Errill GAA were beaten in the final of the same competition in 2024.
