A Laois school has sought planning permission to build two new special educational needs classrooms.

The Board of Management of Heywood Community School has lodged plans with Laois County Council to construct the two new classrooms in a "single storey flat roof detached building located to the rear of the main school building with associated external play space, with amendments to the existing sports grounds fence, with addition of gate access and new 2.2m boundary fence to the sports grounds and all associated site works."

A decision is due to be made by Council planners by August 28, 2025.
