‘Outstanding’ Leaving Cert results at Laois Rose’s former school

Heywood Community School says it is thrilled with the outstanding achievements of their Leaving Certificate students in the 2025 examinations. 

“Our students have once again demonstrated exceptional dedication, resilience, and academic excellence, with this year's results reflecting their hard work and commitment over the past six years,” said Principal Eamon Jackman.  

“We had a fantastic morning in the school as we welcomed our five classes of first year students with their parents from 8:45am for the first time and then had our outgoing 6th year students accompanied by parents in many cases come to the school to collect results. 

“We are very proud of each student. Their success is a testament not only to their individual efforts but also to the support and encouragement provided by our dedicated teaching staff, supportive parents, and the wider Heywood community. Our teachers and SNAs have gone above and beyond to provide a learning environment that nurtures each student's potential, even in the face of challenges which have unfolded during their time here,” said Mr Jackman. 

The school described the results this year as remarkable, with many students achieving top grades across a wide range of subjects. 

“These achievements will open doors to further education and career opportunities, and we are confident that our students will continue to excel in whatever paths they choose to pursue,” Mr Jackman remarked. 

“During the week we were extremely proud of not only the success of Katelyn Cummins in the Rose of Tralee but also how she articulated that each student should follow their own path and not feel compelled to go down a route due to expected norms from their peers or society. I hope our students can listen to this advice,” he said.

“On a personal level, I took great satisfaction chatting to many of the students this morning who visited the school and heard of the plans they have made for their future. Many have already secured employment or are accessing apprenticeships with local employers. With the changing employment landscape and demand in certain sectors, students are being very strategic in their career choice and not merely following the media driven route of 3rd level without assessing if it best suits their talents. I think they are to be commended for this.
