On the day of their arrival, the Laois students went straight to the Louvre. Here the students soaked up some of the world's most famous artworks, followed by a walking tour across the Tuileries Gardens and Place de la Concorde.

After a delicious dinner to refuel, the students were treated to a trip to the gorgeous Parisian Christmas markets.

"Students stayed in a hostel in the 11th district and from there went to visit Paris’s most iconic sights, including the Eiffel Tower, le Musée d’Orsay, the Champs Elysses, Stade de France and Montmartre," the school told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"Probably the most memorable visit of all was Notre Dame cathedral on Sunday evening. The students, along with many other visitors, were able to walk through the cathedral and admire the restoration. This was following an evening service in the cathedral, it was truly a special moment," staff said.

Following their morning French class on the final day of their trip, the Heywood Leaving Cert class walked along the Champs Elysées.

Students strolled through the Marais district, as far as Place des Vosges.

"After some last-minute shopping in Paris’s best known shops, students then caught a flight back to Ireland. We arrived back home to Heywood at midnight that Monday. It was a jam-packed trip enjoyed by all!" the school finished.
