A Mountmellick Community School graduate has won a prestigious scholarship.
Konstantin Syomushkin has been awarded the JP McManus scholarship as one of 125 top scoring Leaving Certificate and A Level students on the island of Ireland, after scoring 590 points.
He also won an entrance scholarship to Trinity where he is studying science.
Principal of Mountmellick CS Larry Curtin attended both ceremonies.
“We are delighted for Konstantin and his family, it reflects his ability and effort over the five years, and we wish him every success in his future education,” he said.
The scheme gives €6,750 per year to undergraduates throughout their course. It is administered by the Department of Education, with Minister of State for Higher Education Mary Mitchell O'connor TD presenting the scholarships on the day..
