A previous Clonenagh Tractor Run.
A rural Laois primary school is gearing up for the return of a spectacular Christmas tractor run fundraiser.
The parents and staff at Clonenagh National School in Mountrath are delighted to announce the return of their Annual Tractor Run, on Wednesday December 28, following a two-year break for the pandemic.
The special day will also feature a Family Fun Run/Walk and a Monster Auction in Coolrain village, offering something for all of the community to enjoy.
This fundraising family event promises the usual excitement including all-day long free refreshments and music.
The day starts with a 6km Family Fun Run/Walk around the beautiful countryside near Coolrain village at the foot of the Slieve Bloom mountains. This is a great way to work off the excesses of Christmas.
All ages are welcome to join the Run/Walk. Registration for the Fun Run/Walk will take place at 11am in Hogan’s Pub, Coolrain (€10 for adults, €5 for teenagers and free for under 12s), and the Run will start at 11.30am.
Next up will be the Annual Tractor Run which is a sight to behold as the tractors and vintage cars work their way through the village and along the route. Registration for the Tractor Run takes place at 1pm and the tractors and cars will set off at 2pm.
The now-famous tractor run stew will be served to the drivers after the run in Hogan’s pub, Coolrain and all drivers will receive a memento to remember the day.
The event will finish with the Monster Auction in Hogan’s Pub at 8.30pm with many impressive lots being auctioned on the night. The banter of resident auctioneer, Joe Shirley, is often the highlight of the night and ensures that all those who come to support will enjoy the craic as well as a chance to grab a bargain for a great cause.
The annual fundraiser is a very enjoyable day for all ages so there is no excuse not to join them for some exercise, a lot of tractors and plenty of fun.
