Portlaoise soccer club set to clash with League of Ireland champions

Shamrock Rovers' U-17 team will take on Old Fort Celtic in a friendly game on Wednesday August 23. The reigning League of Ireland title holders will take to the astroturf at the Leisure Centre in Portlaoise.

Old Fort Celtic are an up and coming club based in Portlaoise with the team competing in the Kildare and District Football League. They've only recently acquired a permanent home venue for their games with the pitch at the back of Portlaoise College now being used as their home pitch. The club had been using the soccer pitch in Ballyroan for their home games.

The club has grown from strength to strength as they've now established a second team that'll compete in the KDFL alongside the newly-formed U-17 and an U-20 teams. The club's first team are playing in the Premier Division with the second team taking their place in Division 2.
