Second meeting of the season to be hit

Kilbeggan Races meeting rescheduled for next Monday evening, April 30

The Kilbeggan Races meeting that was cancelled on April 20 has now been rescheduled for next Monday evening, April 30

A burst water main forced the canellation of horseracing at Kilbeggan Races  at the weekend but the organisers have rescheduled the card.

Kilbeggan Races has been rescheduled for this Tuesday 5th June first race at 5.55 pm. We have seven races on the card and original declarations will stand from our cancelled race meeting on Sunday June 3rd.

All tickets that were dated for our race meeting on Sunday June 3rd are valid for admission to our rescheduled race meeting on This Tuesday, June 5th.

Kilbeggan Racecourse Managing director said the cancellation was beyond their control.

"Due to an Irish Water burst pipe on the main water feed to the entire Kilbeggan area, we have no water supply and we now have to cancel the race meeting on June 3. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused to all of our patrons," he said.

Its the second of Kilbeggan's meetings to be hit this year. The season opener on Friday, April 20, had to be called off due to ongoing ground concerns.

The prolonged winter and poor spring weather took its toll on the ground the Westmeath track. Grass is some parts of the track  failed to grow adequately due to the wet condition.
