The proud Laois people of The Heath are gearing up for their third St Patrick’s Day parade with the organisers saying the county’s newest parade is going from "strength to strength" despite being on Portlaoise's doorstep.

Having debuted in 2024, the parade drew big crowds again last year and looks set to continue that trend in 2026.

To ensure that happens the parade committee is reaching out to all local musicians, bands, local businesses and community groups who would like to take part to get in touch so everyone can play their part.

They're early starters as well, with the parade getting underway on Tuesday, March 17, at 8.45 am from The Heath GAA Club and proceeding to the church in time for 9.30 am mass.
