Laois County Council is planning to carry out work on a road in Stradbally where a number of accidents have occurred.
Fine Gael Cllr Vivienne Phelan asked in a motion: “That Laois County Council examine road safety at the bad bend on the L3827 at Killeen Stradbally where many accidents have occurred”.
In response, Senior Executive Engineer, Tom Drennan said: “Laois County Council will review and assess this section of road and from there will determine what interventions may be required with regards to road safety with signage likely to be considered. It should be also noted that this section of road is also included in the 2026 restoration improvement roads programme.”
Cllr Phelan thanked Mr Drennan and said the road has a lot of traffic as it is used by people in Stradbally who are looking to access the motorway.
The motion was seconded by Fianna Fail Cllr Paschal McEvoy who said it was “great” to hear the work was going to be done.
The issue was discussed at the latest meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
