Met Éireann in horrible weekend weather forecast except for one area getting sun
Ireland looks set to welcome another weekend of mixed weather fortunes but one area of the country could escape the rain and enjoy long sunny spells.
The prediction comes as part of Met Éireann's latest forecast for the weekend and into next week. Their general outlook for the coming days foresees "showers or outbreaks of light rain at times, most often affecting the north and west where it will also be coolest. Drier with closer to average temperatures in the south."
However, Met Éireann says it will be "mainly dry and sunny" on Saturday and it will be the nicest of the weekend days for most. "Highest temperatures of 13 to 19 degrees, warmest in the south, in a moderate northwesterly wind," they add.
They say it will be "mostly dry with clear spells early on Saturday night" but "cloud will increase over the northern half of the country overnight, bringing some outbreaks of rain. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in a light to moderate west to northwest wind."
Sunday looks like being a "generally cloudy day across the country" but one area could escape and enjoy longer sunny spells.
"Patchy rain and drizzle will push into the west and northwest on Sunday morning, eventually extending eastwards but remaining mostly dry in the south and southeast. Cooler on Sunday with highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees generally but possibly reaching 15 or 16 degrees in the south, all in a moderate northwesterly breeze," the forecast says.

"Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will spread eastwards overnight. Drier over Ulster overnight with some clear spells and isolated showers. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees in a light to moderate northwesterly wind."
The forecast continues for next week: "Rain will clear southwards Monday morning leaving a largely bright day with sunshine and showers. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, warmest in the south, in a light to moderate northerly breeze.
"Largely dry with clear spells although cloudy over parts of Ulster with isolated showers [on Monday night]. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in a light northerly breeze.
"Cloud and scattered showers will extend from the north Tuesday morning. The showers will ease through the day to leave a largely dry evening with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees, possibly cooler along the north coast, in a light to moderate northerly breeze."
