Laois towns establish community hubs for locals without power

Laois towns are establishing community based response hubs following the destruction wreaked by Storm Éowyn.

Almost 1,000 Laois households remain without power, with many households in Mountmellick also without water. 

Community response hubs have been established in Shanahoe and Mountrath.

Bloom HQ in Mountrath have established a response hub from their premises, offering a location for locals to charge their phones and have tea and coffee.

"We lost our internet and electricity over the weekend,  but we're back working now," one worker told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"Mountrath had some trees down, but nothing too major. We are offering tea and coffee from our canteen and facilities to charge phones to any people affected by the power outages," they finished.

Laois County Council have established a Community Response Support Helpline for Laois people affected by Storm Éowyn.
