Power blackout ahead for over seventy Laois homes and businesses

ESB warn more electricity outages to follow as it fixes Storm Éowyn damage

About 70 Laois homes and businesses will have no electricity this Wednesday morning, as ESB Networks continue to repair the destruction of the grid by Storm Éowyn.

Following notification to residents in The Rock, Mountmellick, a spokesperson confirmed the planned outage to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"We can confirm that a planned outage is necessary in Mountmellick tomorrow to facilitate replacement of a broken pole damaged during Storm Éowyn. Approximately 70 customers have been impacted."

The power outage will affect customers who have been notified by text alerts from ESB Networks. It will take place from 9am to 1pm on Wednesday, February 12.

The ESB's spokesperson said that more planned outages will follow for weeks to come.

"Customers should note that planned outages around the country can be expected in the coming weeks as similar storm damage is repaired, on the grounds of safety as well as continuity of supply. We apologise for the inconvenience caused."
