Planned power outage in Laois to fix Storm Éowyn damaged electricity pole

Text message alert issued by ESB Networks.

Almost three weeks on from Storm Éowyn, Laois householders are still being affected by the damage it caused.

ESB Networks is turning off electricity power to part of the Mountmellick area, to fix a pole.

A text message alert was issued to residents on Tuesday morning, February 11 to residents in The Rock area, which includes The Rock National School.

The school has not however been alerted to an interruption of their supply, confirmed to the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"We intend to disconnect your electricity supply tomorrow Wednesday 12/02/2025 between 9.00 am and 1.00pm to replace a broken pole damaged by the recent storm. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Safety is a key priority for ESB Networks."

The planned interruption is not however displayed on the ESB Networks Powercheck live map. No other interruptions in Laois are displayed either.

The Leinster Express / Laois Live has asked ESB Networks for an update on any planned outages for the county.
