Met Éireann extends weather warning for Laois

Met Éireann have extended their status Yellow weather warning for high temperatures in Laois.

The weather warning is in place until 6am on Sunday July 13 for all counties.

On Friday and Saturday, high temperature warnings have been issued for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon and Tipperary.

Temperatures are expected to be in excess of 27°C during the day, and in excess of 15°C at night. 

Water safety issues have been highlighted due to the increased use of lakes and beaches, along with a possibility of forest fires and uncomfortable sleeping conditions.

Mild and very warm weather continues through the weekend but a change to more unsettled and cooler weather will begin from next week.

Saturday Night: Mild and mostly dry during the evening with a little more cloud pushing in across western parts. Southerly breezes and rather mild overnight with lowest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.

Sunday: Starting out largely fine and dry with good sunny spells and mostly light winds. More cloud will build from the west with outbreaks of rain pushing in across Atlantic coastal counties. A very warm day with highest temperatures of 22 to 28 degrees and southerly breezes.

Sunday Night: Becoming rather cloudy with freshening southerly breezes. Outbreaks of rain will push in from the southwest and may be heavy and blustery at times too. Quite mild overnight with lowest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.

Monday: Cloudy and unsettled with a band of rain moving over the country during the morning. A clearance to sunny spells and scattered showers. Southeasterly breezes will change southwesterly later in the day with highest temperatures a bit cooler than recently at 18 to 22 degrees.

Tuesday: Another unsettled and cooler day with a good mix of scattered showers, blustery winds and some sunny spells too. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees.
