With over 80,000 picnickers expected to descend upon Stradbally for this year's Electric Picnic, campers have been keeping a keen eye on Laois weather forecasts over the past few days.

The popular social media page Carlow Weather, ran by weather guru Alan O'Reilly, has predicted bad news for festival goers.

"Rainfall varies across weather models because it is going to be mainly showers for Electric Picnic," Mr O'Reilly said.

The weatherman says 'it will be breezy and rainy' with the full forecast still hard to predict.

"It could be just some showers and the most of it could fall on Sunday, but it's hard to say exactly how much rain we'll get," he said.

Fortunately for Laois locals, Hurricane Erin has died out over the Atlantic, with no dramatic weather events expected.
