Pictured: unsettled weather for Laois this midterm break
Met Éireann has disappointing news for Laois locals, with a gloomy forecast for Laois this midterm break.
Speaking with the Leinster Express / Laois Live, forecasters are predicting heavy rain and blustery winds later in the week.
"Tuesday is going to be a day of sunny spells and occasional showers, with decent dry intervals in between," a representative said.
"There will be moderate to fresh westerly winds, and highs of 11 to 12 degrees," he said.
"Tuesday night will be mostly dry, but there will still be isolated showers. It will be a cooler night, with lows of 4 to 6 degrees, and a moderate westerly wind."
Wednesday will be the coolest day this week, with temperatures to drop on Wednesday night.
"There will be a similar pattern of sunny spells and showers, and the rain is expected to die out by the evening," the forecaster said.
"It will be a touch cooler, with highs of 10 to 11 degrees. The day will see a moderate westerly wind, which will die out as the showers ease in the evening. Wednesday night will be the coldest night this week, with temperatures dropping to 3 or 4 degrees."
As the week goes on, the weather appears to be blustery and uncertain.
"Thursday is not looking great, it will be a dry morning but it will turn wet and breezy," Met Éireann said.
"Rain will push northward and it will be a wet and breezy day. Winds will be strong and gusty, but temperatures will be slightly milder, with a high of 12 to 13 degrees."
Many Laois parents and trick-or-treaters are waiting with bated breath for the latest forecast for Friday, Halloween night.
"Thursday's rain will mostly clear away overnight, but it is a lot more uncertain for Friday," Met Éireann explained.
"The pressure is moving up to the north west, and Laois can expect spells of rain and showers. The day will be unsettled, but there will be periods during the day where it is dry.
"We won't know until closer to the time when these intervals will be, so we will have to cross our fingers that there will be dry periods for trick-or-treaters," he finished.
