A Laois trad music group will appear on television, following their amazing performance in the 2023 Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann in Mullingar.

A one hour programme featuring the All Ireland Senior Céilí Bands competition from Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023 in Mullingar will be screened on TG4 on Sunday, January 14 2024 at 9:30pm.

The programme, Fleadh 2023 - Na Bannaí Céilí, will feature all 11 of the finalists that took part in the competition at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullingar.

It includes The Grange from Camross who were runners-up in 2022 and gave a stirring high quality performance again in 2023. They formed just part of a strong contingent from Camross CCÉ.

Camross Comhaltas Ceoltéorí Éireann celebrated their 50th year in 2023.

It will also feature behind the scenes footage of the bands, as well as interviews, in what is the first time that the All Ireland Senior Céilí Bands competition has featured in a highlights programme.

Presented by Fiona Ní Fhlaithearta of TG4, viewers will see and hear performances from céilí bands from Ireland, Scotland and Australia, with the Melbourne Céilí Band taking part in the Fleadh Cheoil for the first time.

As well as The Grange, see performances from the overall winners, Piper's Cross from Mayo, and Glór na dTonn, who finished third in 2022 with stiff competition from bands from Donegal, Kerry, Mayo, Offaly, Down, Cork and elsewhere.

Piper's Cross - first place in the All Ireland Senior Céilí Bands Competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2023

The programme is a co-production between TG4 and Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.
