Pop up Gaeltacht and céilí mór to celebrate Bliain na Gaeilge in Laois
A huge week long celebration is set to kick off soon to mark Bliain na Gaeilge and speaking the Irish language.
An Sean Chistin will kick off proceedings on Monday, July 30 with a céilí at 8:30 pm to the music of All Ireland Champion accordionist, Keelan McGrath.
The craic will continue for a full seven days at An Sean Chistin, Irey in Ballyfin. It will come alive to the sounds of Irish music, song, dance, poetry, stories, laughter, friendship and fun, with events each day.
On Tuesday, July 31st there will be an open house rambling session from 8:00pm. All are welcome to contribute a song, dance, story or just relax and enjoy great company, cuppa and chat.
Wednesday August 1 at 8:00pm will see the arrical of a Pop Up Gaeltacht where all are welcome to use their cúpla focal in a relaxed, inclusive environment.
This is a special event to celebrate Bliain na Gaeilge, admission is free and all ages are welcome.
Laois Matters will take place on Thursday August, 2 at 8:00pm where people of Laois are celebrated through their songs, music, dancing, stories, cupán tae nó caifé.
On Friday, August 3 the fun will move to the Community Centre in Ballyfin for a Céilí Mór at 9:30pm with Johnny Reidy, admissions is €10.
Saturday 11a.m.-4p.m. A sean-nós and brush dancing workshop for all ages and abilities will be held at An Sean Chistin on Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm, €10. All are encourages to bring a packed lunch, there will be free tea and coffee.
