Laois/Offaly Gardaí are inviting last minute entries for the 2023 Youth Awards.
Being held in association with Supermacs and the Killeshin Hotel, the guards say the awards will celebrate outstanding young people between 13 and 21 years of age, and will recognise the good work they are doing throughout their communities.
Gardaí also say that the awards celebrate the contributions of young people, both individually and as part of groups. The awards will be bestowed in four different categories including an Individual award, a Group award, a Special Achievement award for a person who has defied the odds to overcome a difficult situation and a Community Safety award recognising a crime prevention initiative that has contributed to making a community a safer place to live and work in.
They are encouraging you to submit your nominations for deserving young people across Laois and Offaly who have contributed positively in their local communities or who have shown great determination in their own lives.
The closing date for nominations is noon on Friday, February 24.
Nomination forms are available to download on the Laois/Offaly Garda Division Facebook page and at www.garda.ie/!VTN2Q9
Completed forms should be emailed to laoisoffalygardaouthawards@garda.ie or dropped to your local Community Policing Garda at Portlaoise, Tullamore or Birr Garda Stations.
Award winners will be celebrated at a special event on March 23rd 2023 in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise, Co. Laois.
