Laois people offered chance to register to vote at local libraries
With local elections coming up next year, the growing Laois population has a chance this August to check they are on the register to vote.
Laois County Council has announced a schedule of help days at some libraries around the county.
"As part of our programme of activities to promote the Register of Electors, staff from Corporate Affairs will be in the libraries during August to provide assistance to people to check and update their details on the Register.
"In order to update your details on the Register, you are required to bring the following on their visit: date of birth, PPSN and Eircode. If you don’t know your Eircode, get in touch with me and I will try to get this for you.
Full schedule below:
August 10: Portlaoise Library 10am -12 noon. Portarlington Library 2.30pm - 4pm.
August 17: Mountrath Library 10am - 12 noon. Mountrath Library 2.30pm - 4pm.
August 24: Rathdowney Library 10am - 12 noon.
August 25: Durrow Library 10am - 12 noon. Stradbally Library 2.30pm - 4pm.
September 1: Abbeyleix Library 10am - 12 noon.
To vote you must be registered on the Register of Electors for the area in which you live. Register at www.checktheregister.ie
