Whopping prizes are on offer on St Patrick's Day in the Slieve Blooms where the people of Clonaslee have begun planning for the 2024 edition of the St Patrick's Day Parade.
The organising committee recently launched plans for the event at the Clonaslee Heritage Centre. They are now appealing to the local people and organisations to get ready to take part in what will be one of many celebrations in Laois on St Patrick's Day.
They say float applications are open for the big event which takes place on Sunday, March 17 at 12 noon commencing from Clonaslee Community Centre. All floats can assemble from 11 am at the Community Centre.

And there's an added incentive for making a big effort in making your floats for the big day.
"There is a whopping €600 cash prize and a trophy for the Best Overall Float on the Day. Also €150 cash prize and a trophy for first prize in each section," said the committee.
Entries are free to enter. Donations will be accepted in the Community Centre on the day.
The organisers also need help on the day in running the parade.
"We would like assistance with more stewarding on the day, if you can lend a hand please make contact with us," they say.

The group meet every Thursday at 8:30 pm in the Clonaslee Community Centre to organise the upcoming St Patrick’s Day parade.
