Laois EB hero Emma Fogarty has raised her fundraising target to a whopping €1 million ahead of completing the Dublin city marathon with her Hollywood friend Colin Farrell.

Emma agreed to reset the target, during an interview on the Ray D'Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio One.

It comes after Emma and Colin appeared on the Late Late Show on Friday October 17 to speak of her latest fundraiser as patient ambassador for DEBRA Ireland. That appearance pushed the donation level to €619,000, and it is climbing daily, currently at €663,730.

Emma suffers from the rare incurable epidermolysis bullosa (EB) or Butterfly Skin, which causes her incredible pain as her skin comes off at a mere touch, opening her body to deep infections and cancer. This year she defied her life expectancy of 32 to celebrate her 40th birthday, and she will join Colin in her wheelchair on his last 4km of the marathon on Bank Holiday Sunday, October 27.

She spoke to the Leinster Express / Laois Live just after her chat with Ray about the massive amount of donations received.

"Oh my god, I'm overwhelmed. We all know that Irish people are amazing and kind but I'm blown away. When we came up with this we hoped we'd make €100,000 or €200,000, to be at this is just amazing," she said.
