The Laois community of Clough is inviting people to help support fundraising efforts to build a community hub by buying ticket in a mega draw that has a top prize of €10,000.

Clough Vision Group say they are into the final phase of their upcoming draw, Clough 999. They held their Early Bird draw on Sunday, March 16 in Clough National School and they were very happy to declare Trevor Stanley and family the winner.

Trevor, who hails from nearby Coolfin, can claim either a break in Centre Parcs or the cash equivalent. The group congratulations him and his family.

Clough Vision Group told the Leinster Express / Laois Live that they are now looking forward to April 21 when the main draw takes place.

"That evening, one ticket will be drawn, and the winner will receive €10,000," said the Committee.

They are inviting people to get on board to support a facility that will benefit the community for generations to come.

"The draw is limited to 999 tickets. At this point, tickets are running low with about 200 left to sell," said.

Laois County Council has already granted planning permission for the community hub. The new building will be constructed on a greenfield site beside the school. It will include a main multi-purpose hall space, meeting rooms and kitchen.

It's nearly a decade since the Clough Vision Group was established to develop and build a community space for everyone. A Community Development Plan carried out in 2020 identified a "clear need" for such a building.

It has previously been reported that that project would cost upwards of €500,000. MORE BELOW PICTURE.

The 999 draw is the latest fundraiser organised by the committee to foot the bill. A Limerick man won a John Deere tractor worth €100,000 in a Clough Vison group raffle in 2023.
