A new campaign is underway in Laois other midland counties and parts of Dublin to raise awareness about mental health difficulties.
The HSE Dublin and Midlands Green Ribbon Campaign 2025 in partnership with Shine runs through September and this year’s theme is “Step Up to Stamp Out Stigma”. The organisers say the aim this year is a call on everyone across Ireland to speak up, show support and take meaningful steps toward a more open and understanding society.
The Green Ribbon Campaign aims to raise awareness about mental health difficulties and encourages HSE staff and members of the public to wear a free Green Ribbon to show you are open to having meaningful conversations about mental health.
Kate Killeen White, Regional Executive Officer for HSE Dublin and Midlands, spoke in support of the Green Ribbon Campaign.
“I am proud to support the Shine Green Ribbon Campaign 2025. By wearing a green ribbon, we show that mental health is something we can all talk about openly and without stigma. The HSE Dublin and Midlands Office of Suicide Prevention is working closely with Shine to distribute ribbons and host local events across our communities. I encourage everyone to join us — wear a ribbon, start a conversation, and help make mental health something we can all feel safe to discuss,” she said.
HSE Dublin and the Midlands Office of Suicide Prevention and Resource Officers for Suicide Prevention are holding events throughout the month. Resource officers are also working with community partners to encourage local green ribbons events, if you would like to host a green ribbon event please read Green Ribbon Supporters Pack for great ideas and tips on events.
