A Laois TD is urging community groups in Laois to apply for funding for vital equipment as a deadline is fast approaching.
Fianna Fáil TD Sean Fleming is reminding community groups across Laois that the deadline for applications for funding to the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2026 is Friday, February 27, 2026.
He said: “This funding will provide essential capital supports to small community groups and organisations, enabling them to carry out vital improvement works and purchase equipment for community use.”
Deputy Fleming said 94 groups in Laois were approved for funding amounting to €165,246 last year.
“These grants can make a meaningful difference to local projects and services and I would strongly encourage any organisation that is considering applying to do so before the deadline.

"The community grants funding is placing a particular emphasis on improving accessibility for people with disabilities, enhancing participation for disadvantaged and marginalised groups, and increasing the energy efficiency of community facilities to help reduce ongoing costs,” he stated.
According to Dep Fleming, the funding is easy to apply for and is easy to draw down.
