The sun shone warmly on the happy children and families of Scoil Mhuire National School, Abbeyleix, for their annual Family Fun Day on Sunday June 12.
Large crowds gathered on the grounds of the school to enjoy lots of fun and games, music and races.
“We were blessed with glorious sunshine. A great day was had by everyone,” reported Emma Dunne, 6th class teacher.
On the day, both young and old took part in races, and enjoyed the play areas, tasty food and ice-creams.
There were also soccer finals to be battled out ahead of the Euro's, as well as raffles, and lots of musical entertainment.
There was even nail and face painting on offer among other activities.
Competitors also tried their luck in various sporting challenges.
The memorable day was rounded off with a delicious barbecue for all.
The school wishes to thank all who helped to organise the day especially the Parent's Council, and all who attended it.
“Well done to all the hardworking organising committee, and a big thanks to all those who donated prizes, and to everyone who helped out on the day. Go raibh míle maith agaibh to all who so generously supported the event,” said the principal Mr McEvoy.
The school will close for the Summer holidays this Thursday June 30 at 12pm.
“We wish all our pupils a happy and safe holiday,” said Mr McEvoy.
