RATHDOWNEY REVIEW 2014
The 30th edition of the Rathdowney Review is currently being compiled and will on sale from December 1. Anyone who has anything they wish to be published in the review should contact Betty O Brien, Maureen Guilfoyle or Niall O Doherty. The closing date is the end of October but the committee would appreciate any material to be submitted as soon as possible. The review especially welcomes weddings, anniversaries, graduations, sporting achievements, family profiles, poems etc. The 30th edition is expected to fill up very quickly. The committee wish to thank everyone who was involved with the Rathdowney Review in any way over the past 30 years.
CYMS snooker and billard hall are hold a Halloween Kids Disco on Friday October 31 from 7 -10pm in the Parochial Hall. Admission is €3, fancy dress optional, prize for the best dressed. All proceeds to the CYMS snooker club. The club is now re-open for the winter. Membership now due adults €20 juveniles €10, family €30. The CYMS are also holding a guess the value of the trolley outside Supervalu on Friday October 17, all proceeds towards the development of the club.

RATHDOWNEY GIRL GUIDES
Carol and Claire Stanley will be volunteering in local communities in Pune, Western India as part of an Irish Girl Guide Service Project Team next summer. The service projects, which are co-ordinated from the Girl Guide World Centre ‘Sangam’, range from teaching English, promoting and encouraging healthcare for women and children plus helping in the upgrading community centres. To help to raise funds for the projects a Charity Dance will take place in the Golf Club on Friday 7 November – music by Outa Diesel. Tickets available on the night or from Carol at 086 1501259 and the Rathdowney Golf Club.
Laois Hospice would like to thank the people of Rathdowney for their very generous support at the various centres in the town, on the annual national coffee morning. The total amount raised was €1,775.50.
