the season kicked off last Sunday with both Senior teams in action. the a team had a tough encounter at home to willow park and they were very unlucky to lose 2 - 1

with Joe bergin getting the goal. the b team travelled to portarlington to face C.R. forest and they had a 2 nil victory, christy lalor getting both goals.

Training continues on Tuesday and thursday nights in the park at 8pm. registration and insurance is still due at €60 for seniors and €40 for students.

IRISH HISTORY LIVE:TITANIC

Michael Moylan returns with his hugely popular interactive history show for kids. This year, experience a unique historical re-enactment of life on board the Titanic. Find out what it was really like to sail on the doomed ship. Booking is required. This takes place in Abbeyleix Library on Wednesday August 22 at 2.30pm.

WILDLIFE ILLUSTRATION WORKSHOP

Learn how to draw Irish wildlife with author and illustrator Gordon Darcy. Workshops for children aged from eight to 12 years. Booking required. This takes place in Abbeyleix Library on Friday August 24 at 2.30pm.

CELEBRATION OF ABBEYLEIX FESTIVALS

There will be a presentation of the Marathon Cup and the Cycling Cup to Abbeyleix Heritage and recalling Festivals of yesteryear. Booking required. This takes place in Abbeyleix Heritage House on Saturday August 25 at 7.30pm. Contact the manager at Abbeyleix Heritage House at 057 87 31653 for more.
