The monthly meeting takes place on Thursday night May 3 at 8pm in the hall. Hostesses for the night are Joan Ferns and Nan Cordial. Competition is something unusual or pretty made from plastic bottle. There will be a demonstration on the night. Ladies dont forget your fees are due. Hope to see you all on the night and new members are always welcome.

DAFFODIL DAY

The local organiser of the recent Daffodil Day extends sincere thanks to all those who assisted in the distribution of daffodils and to all those who generously supported this very worthy cause. The total amount raised here in Castletown in aid of The Irish Cancer Society was €816.

FOROIGE

The Inbetweeners Foroige club met last Saturday for a first aid course with Mary Bonham. Meet next Friday night for continued first aid class.

HALF DOOR CLUB

The 19th annual Half Door Club International Set Dance & Traditional Music Festival will take place in Castletown Community Centre beginning with a ceili on Friday May 4 at 9.30pm with Five Counties Ceili Band. On Saturday 9.30pm Swallows Tail, Sunday 2.30pm Triskell, Sunday 9.30pm Abbey and Monday 2.30pm Brian Boru. Workshops with Pat Murphy. Registration will take place on Saturday at 10am, with workshops from 10.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 1pm. Music sessions all weekend in Castletown Inn. Meanwhile set dance classes continue every Wednesday at 9pm in Scully’s in Ballyroan. All welcome. For further information contact John Sinnott on 086 3440388 or Micheal Lalor  on 086 2607658.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to the sisters and family of the late Dan Riordan, Paddock who died last week. His remains were removed from Guilfoyles Funeral Home, Castletown on Saturday evening and interment took place at St Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath following requiem mass on Sunday. Slieve Bloom GAA Club formed a guard of honour at the removal and a minute’s silence was observed by Castletown/Slieve Bloom GAA Club before the commencement of the Palmer Cup tie v Camross on Sunday afternoon as a mark of respect to the late Dan. RIP
