PICTURES: Premier screening of Portlaoise Tradfest documentary in Dunamaise Arts Centre

The documentary features live performances from a great range of trad legends such as Sharon Shannon, Jamie Troy, Ali Levack, Simon Crehan, Laois Singers Circle and Brian Hughes.

Dunamaise Arts Centre hosted the first ever screening of the Portlaoise Tradfest documentary on Saturday, 9 November. 

This year, the Portlaoise Tradfest committee produced a documentary to showcase the wide variety of events that occurred as part of the festival. 

Marketing Director Chloe Finlay filmed the documentary which was presented by world renowned musician and social media personality Tara Howley. 

The festival was established in 2023 by Dale McKay and has gone from strength to strength since. It now has over 35 traditional Irish music sessions, along with some great events like workshops, concerts, a trad battle of the bands for young people and a festival club.
