The access road to Irish Rail's car park at Portlaoise train station is pockmarked with potholes and other surface damage making catching a train potentially damaging to commuters on their way to catching a train at the busy station.
Commuters and other train users are charged to use the road car park which was given a new surface recently to address similar problems.
However, the company did not address the surface of the road leading from the busy Mountmellick Road at the railway bridge. While some potholes have clearly been patched over the years, there is no sign of recent work being carried out.
Some potholes have emerged in the patched areas. Potholes are almost unavoidable in one part of the short route as they spread the width of the surface.
