WATCH: Laois Garda is the newest face of national recruitment campaign

Hannah Egan from Ballyfin recently attested as a Garda

A Laois Garda is the newest face of An Garda Síochána’s recruitment campaign.

Hannah Egan from Ballyfin explains her reasons for becoming a garda in a video promoting recruitment.

“It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do” says Hannah Egan from Ballyfin in Co Laois who recently attested as a guard.

Hannah’s decision to join the guards was influenced by seeing first-hand what this career entails from growing up in a family where many of her relations have been guards.

On her time in the Garda College, Hannah says she has met “people I’ll be friends with forever.”

Her advice to those considering joining is “just go for it now, there’s no point waiting around, you’ll never regret it.”

The Garda Trainee Recruitment Competition runs until 3pm on Thursday, October 9. 2025.
