In Pictures: Portlaoise Plane's glorious homecoming

Aircraft was a central part of aviation history not just in Ireland but globally

The return to Laois of the Portlaoise Plane which was last seen in public Laois over 100 years ago, when it was one of the first planes in Ireland to take to the skies, was marked by an official homecoming event this weekend.

Many local people spacious grounds of Laois Music Centre to view the newly restored plane, to hear the story of its journey so far.

Photographer Alf Harvey was there too taking pictures and you can watch a slideshow of his photos taken on the historic day.
