A vast new Laois steel rebar factory built by Midland Steel in J17 National Enterprise Park, Portlaoise was officially opened by the Minister for Enterprise Peter Burke on Friday, March 7, as he promised to bring more new jobs to the county.
The company has designed a new Fast Fix process that cuts rebar costs, wastage and time. With another plant already in Mountmellick, it brings the workforce up to 140, according to CEO Tony Woods. Read full story here.
