A thriving young Irish Mexican restaurant chain is expanding to Laois, and the Leinster Express / Laois Live got a sneak peak video preview inside as construction flies ahead.
The Irish business is co-founded by Naimul and Kamrul Hossain, Ethan Butler and Rosina Hanlon. They opened first in Kilkenny, following with a second Namo Plus outlet, followed by Carlow and Clonmel in 2023.
They have taken over two shop units at Laois Shopping Centre in Portlaoise, and they are undergoing a transformation into one open plan restaurant, with a full fit out still underway.
The business has created ten Laois jobs, with staff hired and currently undergoing training.
"We expect to open in Portlaoise by the end of May, early June. We're very excited to open in Portlaoise. We've got all the popular Mexican dishes, burritos, tacos, nachos and we've also got bubble tea and acai bowls, smoothies and coffees. It's fast food but healthy, with vegetarian and halal dishes too," Ethan said.
"It's healthy food with a bold flavour. Healthy doesn't have to be boring. We chose Portlaoise because our customers were coming all the way from here to Kilkenny to eat at Namo, and they were asking us would we open here," Naimul said.
Rosina designs the interiors, with a 48 seat restaurant in the Portlaoise outlet.
"It's industrial but super comfy as well," she said.

Their official opening day is Thursday, June 19, with a DJ and free fresh lemonade to add to the good vibes.
